Shanghai students visit Forester Park, Lexington
It was an unusual group that stayed at Sanilac County’s Forester Park recently – 24 students from the Shanghai University School of Business, plus two of the school’s faculty members.
None of them had ever been camping before - and they all got a true taste of what every Michigan camper has experienced.
Pouring rain.
“The tents were full of water, so some went into the cabins,” said Qing Gu, 24, a graduate student majoring in electronic communication. “We sat around and played games until five a.m.”

The group arrived at Forester State Park the evening of July 28, roasted marshmallows, got rained on, and ventured a swim in Lake Huron. They played basketball and toured Lexington the next day.
The group was being hosted by the Macomb Cultural & Economic Partnership based in Mount Clemens, a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering economic relationships between Macomb County officials, businesses and schools and the rest of the world.
